To read a poem aloud is to translate and transform it. Each voice, each reading layers in new qualities while deforming others. This project literalizes the notion of reading as a sculptural art, concretizing the vocal transformation of a poem by a voice.

Choose a poem, record your reading, and watch what happens to the poem—how your rhythm, emphases, and vocal tones act upon the shapes of and interstices between words, and upon the coherence of language itself.
